M/T ET streets w/massive wheel hop.
How do I get these tires to hook? I had to remove the quad shocks to get the 26x10.5 on an 8 inch rim to fit. Went to the dragstrip today to test the new treads but I was bummed that out of 4 passes I could only get them to stick once. Do I need drag shocks or new upper and lower control arms or both. @ 14.48@94.87 I'm not asking them to do much. Here is my mods if that helps. bbk 1.5/8 shorts mac x offroad x pipe, mac catback, sub frame connectors welded,3.73's, t-5. It doesn't matter at what launch rpm still hops. I don't have a line-loc, so I was not heating the tires at all before each pass. It was also 39 deg. out. Do I have to do a good burnout before thay will stick? and my track loc is working. no 1 wheel wonder yet.

ET Streets will work with a stock suspension. You need to do a decent burnout to heat the tires up. With the temps being 39* and you not doing a burnout at all, it's no wonder you had a tough time getting them to stick!!
With your list of mods, you should not have a problem with the tires hooking. Why do you need a line-loc to heat the tires? HEAT THOSE MOFO'S UP!

Being a 5spd,my big feet and the peddles being close it's not going to happen. I don't think I can pop the clutch and catch the brake quick enough. I probably would end screwing it up and end up doing doughnuts on the starting line. I'll call and order the line-loc. I also was running 20psi in the tires I should have dropped them down to 15???

You definately need to heat up the tires and do a decent burn out. Why can't you do a burn out without a line lock? Hold the brake with the heel of your right foot while reving the engine and dump the clutch, nothing hard about it, just try it. I usually run 12 to 14 psi in my ET STREETS.

You mentioned you removed the quad shocks...what do you have for control arms in the rear? If they are stock then it no wonder they hop. You need some sort of lower controls. You can even put in aftermarket bushings in the stock control arms but in todays age, with the new control arms thats out there its not worth the hassal.

1) drop em down to 15psi

I ordered the line-loc, now on the lower control arms. I have the stock ones in now., but I would like to get new ones. Which ones would work the best for me? There are so many to chose from, I should ask people that have tried different brands and probably got different results. So what do think.Thanks

Try this. Go around the waterbox. Back your rear tires into the water. Spin em once to get the whole surface wet and roll out of the water. Dump the clutch and go to the brake with you left foot and power brake it. Do a devent burnout till you see a good amount of smoke. Then dump the clutch at about 4k rpm. Just know that you might break an axle or drop your driveshaft. 14.48 wouldnt be a bad time with those mods on street tires, but you definately can pull a better et with the et streets.

You need control arms, without quadshocks you will have wheel hop without atleast lowers. Macs are a good cheap option at about $200 for the uppers and lowers.

For quality for a low price you just CAN NOT beat X2C control arms (www.x2cmotorsports.com). You can get uppers AND lowers for $139.
I know what your thinking....how good could they be for $140 bucks? Well Bob Cosby is running 11's in his NMRA Factory Stock Cobra with X2C arms. I'm buying a set myself next week. -Josh, aka the tireburner

I agree do the burnout in the water box then just let off the brake/line lock and stay on the gas and spin them halfway to the starting line.
