Question Clutch for 347?

Im building a 347 thats gonna be making about 350hp and sprayed occasionally with about 100hp dry shot of N20, this is my daily driver and looking for a nice clutch to put on it. I was thinking Centerforce Dual Friction Stage II, any suggestions?

I have a centerforce DF in my car and it made 353hp at the flywheel and the centerforce worked great. Its a nice light clutch pedal and it holds great. It gets my vote.

I too recommend the SPEC 2 for your set up. That's what I was running til the car died

FWIW my problems are NOT clutch related

ack, sorry about that. needed to edit because I'm a dumb ass... my issues are fuel related at the moment (I think...)

yup, it sure does. All I did was resurface the flywheel and install it. Pretty easy install over all.

Ran (runs) great even on a t5 with 155k on it and has been beat to death. I swear, I can't kill that damn transmission to save my life. When it dies I can replace it... but I won't do it until it dies.

Anyway, I have more important issues with the car at the moment other than trying to kill an unbreakable t5

Yep all the clutches will work with the stock setup. Im running mine with my little 4cyl T5 and have delved into the 13's and it works great. But no matter what clutch you get i would reccomend getting the flywheel resurfaced and look into a new pilot bearing. Might as well do them while its out. Ive also head alot of good stuff about doing the steel bearing retainer on the T5.

i agree on doing other stuff while doing the clutch. the best tool for turning a flywheel is a blanchard grinder.
i would do the rear main seal. i like Teflon seals (20 bucks at AZ). steel bearing retainer is a good idea. just read up first, so you dont dump your needles all over. gotta tilt the trans the right way when pulling the retainer.

pilot bearing (not bushing) is definately worth doing. make sure you get a new TOB (some kits dont include one). try to avoid plastic versions. and if your trans fluid is old, it is a good time to put your favorite flavor synthetic in.

also do U joints if needed, since the shaft will be out.

good luck.

I already have a steel retainer and new TOB from my king cobra which is about 1 year old, the flywheel will be resurfaced along with a pinion bearing. I was thinking about a aluminum drive shaft with saftey loop, any thoughts on that mod?

alum DS is always a nice toy, esp with your gearing. steeper gears seem to bring out imbalance in the DS. get one fast - prices are on the rise.
good luck.

Default Well...

If you're gonna act like a big dog, might as well play like a big dog. RAM 900 series with the long style pressure plate gets my vote.
