With that intake you will lose a lot of low-end torque and you will also need to turn some high rpm's to take advantage of the added hp that you will probably not see.

I use to run a 650 dp Holley on my 302 but now have a 347 and run a 750.

I'm still with a dual plane simply because I want the low end torque. My setup doesn't warran a single plane yet.

I run a 650 dp with 62 jets in the primaries and 66 in the secondaries. Runs great with that. I'll up the jetting when I put my ported E7's and new exhaust on.....

Brakes, front seats, 1/4 windows and tailights from a 1990. No times yet.

My friend has an 85 coupe, 302, victor jr. 650 holley dp, it is awesome, and he drove it daily, until it went in the shop for a 347 and trickflow heads, only problem was his cam and pullies would drain the battery if he let it idle too long, but his cam was severely lopey, he ran 108 mph traps with stock ported e7's, id say it had enough low end to drive around the street, we call him the "ls1 punisher" cuz he walks away from every one he has raced, including ones with squeeze he sprayed a 150 shot, now gonna run 347 no nos.

I run a 600 double pumper with nitrous oxide. Works great!! The intake is completely streetable. I've yet to feel this loss of torque all these manifold ads claim. I used to have a weiand dual plane and then switched to the victor junior and I didn't feel any loss of torque. Then again I'm running a 9" converter. Bottom line, it's streetable. Make sure you spin that sucker. Victor jrs. are meant for 6,000+ Rpms!

If you have better springs then you might be able to take advantage of the Vic jr. but you really have to turn it hard and you will loose some low-end torque.

I have a friend that was running the vic jr and a 600 dp and we changed his intake to a performer rpm and his car picked up about .3 in the 1/4 mile and has a noticeable amount of more low end torque.

The problem he had was that he had the stock springs and the valves would start to float really badly.

Also anytime you turn more rpm's you take more of a chance of breaking something and you put more wear and tear on everything.

I would stick with a dual plane for now until you get a lot more done to your car.

Well, i shift the car at 6,000 now. Mods are stock shortblock, AFR 165's, cobra intake(untouched), comp cams nos cam, 1 5/8's BBK LT's, 24# injectors, junk cobra MAF, FP is at 39, 4.10's, spool. So far with 28x9's i went 12.30 @ 109.9 with a 1.65 60". This is with no nos and a t-5. Car weighs 2820 without me. What do you think? I hear good and bad about a vic jr. Thanks

I did not realize you had the mod’s you do, I assumed that you were close to stock since you did not list your mod’s.

You would probably have to turn more like 6500 to 7000 to take advantage of the intake but at your current level of mod’s I do not think it will hurt you.

Why are you going to carb?

Fiveo had a good point. I wouldn't bother with the victor unless you have a solid lifter cam with matched springs. The power is way up there, and when you leave the line you have to leave in the powerband.

I'm running a Vic Jr intake ported and Winsor JR stage 3 heads, B & G 750 dbl pumper. Hooker 1 3/4 equal length long tubes. And love the set up. It seems to have endless power. I shift at close to 7000 rpm and run Crane High rev hyd rollers on a lunati cam.
I do think that High compression is a must though. Oh, on a 347. I wouldnt go any larger that a 650 on a 302. Maybe even a 600 would be better.
