![]() Well, I researched this a bit through the archives and really saw no real answer to the question...and maybe there is not one.
I do not really buy what the adds say for an extra 20hp. But in theory, I could see where they could be effective. Even if they do not ad the extra power they claim....do they help keep the oil from anit-frothing as I have heard. I hate to ask this question, but have NO experience with a windage tray....and see very few guys boasting that they run one. At this point, I am wondering if the $60 bucks for the tray would be better spent towards something else. opinions? Ryan

![]() They are a good idea IMO. They do save some horsepower by reducing the parasitic loss of the crank having to turn itself through the oil, and the anti-frothing is good as well.

![]() I've run one for years now. I wouldn't run one without it, as it does help with oiling, and reduces drag. Its a cheap way to free up some (not a lot maybe 5-10 if you're lucky) power, and it'll never wear out.

![]() A year ago we had a thread on this. Dan said they tested it and did better with out it. I always wanted to put one in also, but Dan's word with me is good as if I tested it myself.

![]() I generally just run a Main girdle and a good Canton pan. They generally come with a crank scraper on the pan.

![]() They are more effective on engines that will see higher RPM's, not really needed in a street car.

![]() They definitely start to have an effect at very high rpm's (above 5000 at least), but our engines rely a lot on splash oiling for the camshaft...I wouldn't have put one in if I did it again.
