Default My 351W combo.

Killed my 302, my #8 rod broke just up from the crank and took a mean chunk off the cylinder bore. Messed the piston up as well. Seeing as my 302 is toast, I got my hands on an F4TE rollerblock late model truck motor, here's what I'm going to stuff in it:

Stock 351 crank& Rods
Keith Black Hypereutectic flat top pistons
Comp XE270HR-12 cam (218/224 .544/.544 112 lsa)
Crane 1.7 RR's
GT-40 Iron heads (fox lake ported 1.94/1.60 valves, .020" milled off)
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap manifold.
Holley 4150 650 double pumper (possibly a proform main body)
BBK 1 5/8" shortys

The heads, cam, rockers, and carb I already have from my 302, as well as my existing exhaust (that's why I'm going to use the shortys). Im going to play "how long will my T5 survive", with the plans of replacing it with a Tremec 500 or 600 TKO, and keep running my 373 gears. I already have a 28oz imbalance flywheel but I'm going to need a good damper, any suggestions?
I'm trying to decide whether to keep my A/C and P/S or to use a manual rack that I have in my parts bin and I shouldn't have any troubles with hood clearance thanks to the 82 GT's stock hood scoop and cutout.
How do you think this combo will do on a 351W?

Sounds good the only thing I would change is the pistons. I would go with some 10.5 to 1's if it were me.

I was actually trying to get it to come in at around 10.5:1.
With the flat tops (6.5 cc valve reliefs) and with my milled heads (59cc chambers-measured) It'll work out to 10.33:1 with a standard .0040" thick head gasket. Other than going to a dome piston, there aren't a lot of off the shelf pistons that'll get the compression up without getting over 11:1. I don't have the gear or the skills to mill a domed piston to my desired dome height so that's out. I might zero the deck, that would be in the neighborhood of 10.7:1. That'll be as far as I'd want to go with pump gas and iron heads.

My opinion, definetly keep the P/S, if the AC works keep it. I hate deleting options. just seems pointless to me and with a 351 who cares about what it takes out cause you'll be making so much more. Not having p/s sucks, and when you get the rear end loose, you'll wish you had the PS to correct it.

Do you have any flow #'s on those heads?

I've been looking for the flowsheet from the heads for a couple of day and finally found it. Isnstead of listing each runner, I'll just do an overall average of the runners.

.100 .200 .300 .400 .500 .600
I 94 149 202 228 239 239
E 102 142 181 194 198 199

Pretty strong midlift #'s eh? I never did get the 302 tuned and ironed out until a couple of weeks before I tossed a rod with it.
I'm hoping I can mae close to 400hp on a 351W with these heads.

For the price of forged pistoins and rings, I've decided to just use my surviving 302 pistons and get one more off a buddy and get the SCAT 9000 3.85" crank and make it a 388 (393 without the .030" overbore). I'm going to do longtubes and a tremec TKO 600. The heads will be upgraded in the future (perhaps to a set of ported FMS Z heads) and a custom Rawls or FTI cam. I will run my heads and cam for now, as this should make enough power to get me kicked off the track without the right safety gear. Instead of having it on the road in a month, my goal will be next spring.
