combo help.
I just picked up a 4 cyl body. No motor or tranny. I will be using this car on the strip only. What would be a good combo to use? I will be using a carb. But what size I don't know. I will also be putting in a tubular K-member,a-arms,coilovers. Should I go will a 8.8 rear or a 9inch?stick or c4. How about the gear ratio,4.10-4.30-4.56. Give me some ideas to help steer me in the right direction. I was thinking of a 306, afr 185's, c-4, spray......thanks for your ideas.

9 inch is great, CARB 750 or 800CFM Demon or Barry Grant, for track C4 with 4.56s and a 3k stall converter will get you flying. Automatics are better for track uses, you'll get consistant times down the track.

The very first thing is to decide how fast you want to go. Then figure out how to get to that speed. If all you are looking for is 12's you can accomplish that easily. If you want to run 9's You would probably like to build something a bit larger. Its way cheeper to build a 9 sec. car than to build a 12sec. engine then an 11 sec. engine then a 10sec etc. etc.

Stick with an 8.8. With normal off the shelf gears, a 9" robs too much horsepower.

I was only thinking of high11's to low 12's. I just want a reliable ride to have some fun with. I like the c-4 idea because with the 5speed I always lose because I can't get consistant with it. Sould I use afr 165's or 185's and what do you think the differance would be between the two?
