Oh, one more thing. Both the 7.5" and the 8.8" are 10 bolt covers, but the 8.8" is more "square" where the 7.7" has a more rectangle shape, being taller than it is wide. If you still have the 8.8" in your horse, crawl under and take a peek, you'll see what I mean. Also, unless YOU changed it, and '82GT had a 7.5" in it from Ford.
Good Luck bro!

Sorry Man!!! I know that is soooo not what you needed, but I didn't want to steer you down the wrong path either my man!
On the bright side, 8.8" rears from Stangs are plentiful at the junkyard, it's the FRONT of the beast that usually is junk. On a side note, why are you changing the rear if you already have an 8.8" ???

You must have mis-understood me. I'm upgrading the 7.5 rear in my '82GT.....finally...anyhow I bought a rear from this guy who claimed it was an 8.8.
Hell....I was fooled too. I know the difference between the two covers(I thought I did) and still got screwed! So now I have yet another 7.5 rear....and I'm out money. Paybacks are a bitch though....I'll get even...trust me!

Dude, now I feel bad for ya. I got a couple 8.8" laying around that I can make you a hell of a deal on. How close are you to Ohio???
In fact, I JUST rebuilt my limited slip right before I dropped the intake valve. I mean "JUST" that it literally has less than 10 miles on it! With the new 410" motor, I'm going with a spool, and I can even throw the fresh LS in with the deal! We'll hook you up bro.

Jester , I live in Danville, Pa. That's a few hours away from you. How close are you to Erie, Pa? I could possibly meet you there sometime.
Drop me an email at: jack_roush@yahoo.com and we'll try to work something out.

the 85 gt has 7.5 with quad shocks.
the 86 gt has 8.8 with quad shocks. My friend bought his 86 brand new and I Have helped him upgrade his shocks in the past and they were definitely quad. It is termed sport suspension. I recently bought an fms 8.8 brand new for $699 from my local speed shop.
