Have you checked for spark? It sounds as if you have. What about fuel? Could be a lot of different things here. Do you hear your fuel pump running when the key is in the on position? If you do, does it sound weak? If you have a gauge, what is the fuel pressure? Check fuel and spark and post the results.

spark is a little weak-spuratic--yet everything is new!
Pump seams good-as It sounds as always and doesn't give out at higher rpm's. wondering if it could be the starter going bad and drawing too many amps-(gm's have this problem) As if i give it a couple quick key jerks-she starts... still running stock pressure regulator........agh.

It only takes 4 things to make an engine run.
Fuel Spark Compression Timing You are obviously lacking one. Sounds like you have Spark/Timing, so like Ieatcamaros said, start looking at the fuel system. My bad! You were posting that last one the same time as I was. Call me cooky, but trust me on this one. Ignition module.

I smell the fuel, its coming--And once she is started runs like new!
No loss in power or top end,no sluggish take off --nothing! My idle did start to surge before this happening--what about tps or iac---ever heard of it making it super hard to start?

So, does the idle still surge now? Where are you smelling fuel from? You shouldn't be smelling it inside the car.

Still surges--bit the bullet and dropped it off at mickeys--this little place that actually doesn't try to stick you... The gas i smell is from me cycling the key about 50 times to try and get it to start--i'll keep ya posted with what it actually was--i am too poor to try and find out on my own--

The TFi is not the ECM, the TFI is on the passanger Fender 94-95 5.0L and on the distributor 86-93 5.0L... its a $40 dollar item. If thats bad or faulty your car won't start, weak spark, will cut out etc etc and could work fine when warm or when cold.. Its a POS part that ford made that causes all sorts of headaches and ford recalled all of the stock units for replacement. so if you haven't changed it, change it asap.

When i bought it they said icm/tfi same so i bought it --but we are speaking of the same piece---the shop said fuel pump---whether it was or not i will never know i threw him the money and left it at that-------
But i do know that my spark was weak and not consistenet*sp even after everything was changed out--i think i had a short somewhere--hmm---Never would have thought it would have been the pump either as after it was started--no loss in power,no hesitation --nothing Atleast i got my daily back now---I do not like driving the 53' in this crappy weather we have had lately...thanks for all the help again! joe

yea sounds like the TFI or Pick up coil ( stator ) either way the TFi are Junk.. Replace it. I would use a factory ford one, not a wells or autozone brand.
