Default Balancer is stuck HELP!

I am changing the balancer on my '88 GT and it won't come off! (yes I removed the bolt...) I have been cranking on the puller bolt for 2 hrs (1/4 turn at a time) and been heating it with a propane torch and tapping at it with a chisel and hammer. I think it moved about 1/8"! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I tried that, and it didn't budge. I ended up removing the puller, and beating the balancer back into place. Then I reattached the puller, and it slid right off. Weird eh?

Anyways, I was changing the balancer because the car had a nasty shake anytime the engine was running. ( I just bought the car) I was afraid to start it to pull it up on my ramps. I put my advance timing light on it, and I had to crank the dial to 60 degrees, just to see the timing mark, and some of the rubber was poking out. I assumed the the balancer was spun. Well, it's back together, and although it's 97% better, the car still vibrates. Any other ideas?

So, did you replace the balancer with another one? How bad is your vibration?

Yes, I put on a new balancer from Checker. (Dorman Brand) The vibe is barely noticeable at idle, but when you rev it, you can feel it. It kinda feels like a tire slightly out of balance, but the car is not moving....... Also, I think there is something wrong with the clutch, since I have driven semis that required less pedal pressure!

Check the fan. If the fan/clutch is warped or out of balance, it can screw up the water pump bearings.

check the motor mounts, most likely they're warn out after having lots of movement from the balancer problem

Yeah the motor mounts look like they are trashed. The car has an electric fan on it though. It also has a truck water pump that is too long, and a skinny little belt to compensate for the misalignment. That will be gone this weekend!

Did you also remove the washer on the bolt? Don't laugh, I've seen this before when people still have the washer stuck inside and can't get the balancer off.

HEHE funny ! Got one better than that. I stuck the end of a puller
inside the end of the crankshaft in 1992 on a 400 cid. Try and get that out lol. I was 17 at the time . Part of learning I guess! My old faithfull 74 F-100.

One time while removing my balancer i left the washer on, and cranked on the wrench for a long time, bent the puller and eventually pulled one of the bolts right out of the balancer and hit my thumb like a hammer, that really hurt and it ended up in a fracture....never did that again...
