Aftermarket cowl hood

I have a 90gt with a stock hood and wanted to install a 3" cowl hood and was wondering whats a good hood and place to order it, I just want something simple nothing crazy.

Should I go fiberglass or metal?

My car is a daily driver and I want a bigger cowl for looks and because I might install a intake spacer gasket on my new engine going in soon so just something simple is fine. My brother pains cars for a living so he was gonna paint it for me.

Fiberglass hoods suck I have owned 3 different ones and they all required extensive prep work before painting. Not to mention you have to run hood pins cause if the hood flexes at high speeds it can fly open and smack the hell out of your car resulting in a ruined cowl panel and windshield. I know from experience.

I strongly suggest you get a metal cowl hood. Sure its a little heavier but the Pros of the metal hood greatly outweigh the cons of a fiberglass hood.

Thanks are there any particular models that are good or are they all similiar in quality?

I also wanted to install a cobra bumper so I can have my tail pipes back and loose my dump pipes, I like the look of the stock lx pipes anyone know a part # or where to get a nice set of chrome ones, I dont like the look of thise big pipes

Make sure you get stainless. That's what the stockers are. Chrome pipes rust very quickly, even if you try to take care of them. Florida car - no beach driving.

Nothing wrong with Fiberglass, just dont get a shitty brand. A Harwood or Cervinis is what you would want.

I agree but I would not recommend the "lift off" style". I have a harwood lift off hood and it's a pain in the ass. I have to undo 10 zeus pins everytime I need to get under the hood.
I would go with a hinged fiberglass hood.
Also, if your brother is going to paint it for you then I'm sure he's prepped tons of fiberglass hoods by now and it won't be a big deal for him to do.

I have a H.O. fiber trends 4" cowl hood and it fit great without all the trimming and just a little paint prep work..

I have a fiberglass hinge hood, 3" cobra R from design concepts and am happy with the quality. Cervanis would definately be top notch though.
