got my new slicks tonight!!
I picked up my M/T drag slicks tonight!!
The sticker on them says they are "tube type". Do I have to have inner tubes installed or is that what they recommend?

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
I didn't put tubes in my 26x10.5 et streets. They are on 15x8 welds, they don't leak at all. And have had no problems.

I have seen the ET drags with no tubes. They work fine

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
How much of an E.T gain do you think I'll get with slicks?
Will my 60' improve a lot?

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
Ok, now how much tire presure should I run in them and is there anything special I should do to "break them in"?
I never had slicks before.

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
i set mine a lb or so lower than i want them to be cause the burnouts raise the temp and pressure. i start around 12-13 psi. pull through the waterbox so your not sirectly in the water just on the damp part. burnout till you can see some smoke in your mirror. don't do any dry hops just go to the line. power brake it as high as you can and hold on!! I picked up a tenth in my 60' times my first pass on slicks. went from 1.8's to 1.7's and now with a few more changes i 60' in the low 1.6's.

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
So..I should power brake at the line instead of mashing the gas?
I usually just set there on the line at idle and then punch it. Hmm..I'll try your way and see what happens. My track doesn't open until March 20th anyway........ Thanks for the advise

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
I started @20psi and worked my way down until I got the results I was looking for. Ended up @10psi. Gained a half a sec.

Re: got my new slicks tonight!!
I run 9lbs in the drag radials and dump the clutch around 2200. let us know how the slicks do, I was putting them off for fear of the stock axles letting go.
