Default 390 in Fox, Headers?

A friend of mine just bought an 85 coupe and has a 390 with a C-4 behind it (not my idea). He's having a small problem with the headers. The engine and tranny fit fine but considering how wide the upper part of these motors are, Does anyone know if there are some headers made to fit it? He bought the headers for a Falcon but there not close to working out without huge modifications. The sad thing is they are a $500.00 set of Hooker Headers. Any info would be great.

Thanks, James

Well, after searching the internet for some time, It seems this is a very unpopular swap. Sorry, could not find any info that dealt with a 390 in the car. I did however read where a set of hooker headers will work for the swap. You may want to call them. Modifying the headers is not all that bad, I have full length headers in my 65 with and AOD. Took a little bending, but they work.

Sounds like you are going to need block hugger headers to me. They dont flow the best but they fit in tight spaces.

Thanks alot for the replies. Unfortunately, I believe your right about this swap not being too popular. Seems the FE motors are just not dealt with too often. It looks like we'll have to modify the headers or make some which is really what we expected. I knew if there was any info out there, this would be the place to find it. Thanks again and I'll keep you updated on how things turn out.

Later, James
