![]() I've looked into the filter kits and there's a regular air filter as well as a fuel injection perf. kit available. would you recommend i go with the regualr k&n filter (which seems to be the regular rectangular filter) or the whole performance kit (which seems to include a conical air filter?)? Would I notice a major difference or do they simply want more money?

![]() Look into a cold air intake (CAI) kit. They're a decent way to start upgrading your Mustang. There are cheaper CAI kits out there than the K&N. Not to push any sales, but I've used and sold the UPR CAI kits and like them alot. They're nicely crafted kits at reasonable prices.

![]() Yes, UPR has a CAI for the 86 which is basically a throttle body to fenderwell setup, no MAF involved.

![]() Running a K&N panel filter with the stock silencer removed will work just as good as any Cold air kit, and is much cheaper!!! Runining a paper filter without the silencer may get it too wet, this will not damage the K&N filter though.
Running a cone filter inside the engine compartment will actually reduce power.
