Is this a respectable time?
My 90 Stang GT convertible ran a 10.22 in the 1/8 today. Only mods are eliminated smog pump, gutted cats and 2 ch. flows. What do you think? It is an auto with 2.73 gears. Thanks for your comments

your time converts to 15.94@90.06mph in the 1/4, although not extremely horrible its not something to brag about, (my 92 4.0 ranger ran about that)
you need gears my friend, on any mustang this is by far the best seat of the pants improvement, especially in an AOD, with your heavy vert, i'd go with 4.10's, atleast 3.73's if you do a whole lot of highway driving, another great improvement is an offroad h-pipe, combined with pulleys/K&N/and good traction, you could hit high 14's, if i was doing a vert, i'd get gears, exhaust, and Kenne Bell blower (they make power down low to get it up and goin) ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, BBK headers, off-road H-pipe, flowmasters, subframes, 65mm TB, March ram air ,MSD coil, U/L control arms, 155lph f/p, Crane Adj.FPR, Nitto drag radials, best 1/4--> 13.76@101.4 on a 2.17 60ft |

How much a difference in time could I expect
with just the 4.10 gears and K&N in stock airbox? ------------------ 90 5.0 Convertible and loving every minute of it!! |

I would say .3-5 or better may be more. Is your timming set up from the stock 10 to like 13-15? if you do you must run only 91-93 gas in it!

don't get a B&M, i have one and it kinda sucks. i'm also have my timing set at 16 degrees and am runnig 89 octane. no detonation at all! i've heard u can run more timing on a AOD car, but i don't know if thats true.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll probably get the K@N first then the transgo shift kit and finally gears. The nice thing about all of this is it doesn't cost too much and improvements will be very noticeable. Thanks again James

I dont have a 1/4 slip w/ just that combo. We did a bradenton trip about 4 wks. ago. Everything but cam and intake in my sig. I did a 14.03@98.90. I have the transgo shitkit but am not to happy w/ it. It shifts great, even a third chip now and then. The prob is it will shift into od while in in D @WOT. No good for 1/4 time or od band. With the stock cam i've had my timing to 16 w/ no detonation. I'm gonna bump it up to 20 w/ new cam. Track was closed this weekend due to TS Gabrielle and country chaotics, i was gonna bracket race sat. So i'll have to settle for test and tune this fri. for a new slip. John

4.10's i think are too high in a bone stock 5 speed car. They would be ok with an AOD but would be too much gear for a stock 5 speed car with a 26" or shorter tire which most people run with. Cars with cams installed with a higher rev limit would benefit from the 4.10's.
