is it worth it??
Hey, i just got an offer from one of my friends to buy a 1986 302, with AOD trans, for $50. It is out of a F-150. The engine would need to be rebuilt in order to run, but would it be worth it just for the intake and EFI stuff?? I just rebuilt a 79 302, and would consider swapping the EFI stuff onto that. The wire harness isnt there. (he cut it) Thanks for any advice

Re: is it worth it??
naw, i think he actually thinks it was a good engine. I wasnt sure if it was 87 or 86 that the 5.0 became a really good engine. Whats the difference. He is a poor little indian though, lol.

well, the engine isnt for sale anymore now, he got a job, and is going to rebuild it himself. What is so wrong with the 86?? It would be nice to know, then i can warn him about it. thanks.

Re: is it worth it??
pistons wont wont with aftermarket heads, speed density, ect i mean really it would have been up to you but it being a 86' like you said it would need a rebuild if not its up for one very soon ..if it were me id try to find an 89-93 for efi stuff off a stang if you are in the market

Re: is it worth it??
i was never planning on going the efi route, but when that deal came up, it seemed really good. Now i just dont want my friend to go sticking a bunch of money into a worthless engine.

i wouldnt go as far as saying its worthless but you might have to put a bit more work into that one than another
