Default Changing my 85GT to an 8.8

gotta 85GT, 3 weeks after buying it i'v already blown the 7.5''

what is involved in installing an 8.8? does everything fit the same or will i have to get anyt hing different like controll arms and what not?

85 GT-currently: 8.8 with 4.10 and richmond spool, 31spline strange axles, Ties, GMS rear controll arms, stock rear springs, 50/50's, 90/10's up front with 4cyl springs, PA K-member and A-arms, and a motor i still cant decide what to do with.

As far as I know, it is a direct bolt in.

everything fits the same. But its a good time to get some better control arms since you are in there anyways. Or at least change the bushings.

I got a complete brand new 8.8 with 3:73 from ford racing around $650. The axles will swap out.

yeah might as well do the controll arms.

i bought an 8.8 out of a car my buddy was parting out the day i bought the 85 because i knew it would go on me. i ordered my gear arleady. i was thinking about atleast boxing my controll arms, makes more sence to just invest a few $'s into some good ones thoug.

i put a 8.8 in my friends 85 gt its a dirtect bolt in. dont forget to put quad shocks on if ya dont already got them...wheel hop sucks

thought my car has them already...maybe i should take a better look.

just ordered my "Battle Boxes" from Wild Rides too.

Yup, it's a direct swap. I put an '88 8.8 rear in my '85. Had no problems at all.

Actaully, it's a great time to change exhausts too!

already done that, first day i had the car.
put a double hump on it, mac headers, mac offroad h and some 40's.
