Good buildup to reach 400+ horsepower 302 truck
Ford Racing B303 cam
TFS Twisted Wedge heads Edelbrock Truck intake w/ 70mm MAF True dual exhaust with long-tube headers no cats I tried this combo in dyno 2000 and it just scratched 400 horsepower with about 390 torque. What do you think of these numbers? Now one thing about the program is it can't account for different intakes. No way to enter things like runner length and port size. Also in the dyno with just the cam, bigger MAF, and free flowing exhaust, everything else stock, I was able to get 300 horsepower. Does this sound realistic? It really doesn't to me! Some things make me a little suspect of this program. Thoughts? |

You could get 400HP with that combo but it wouldnt be on a 302 with streetable compression.

Why not? Does anyone know what TFS heads change the compression to?

Oh I didnt understand the first time I read your post. We are talking flywheel HP here.
Yeah those numbers seem within the realm of reason to me.

Stock heads have 58cc chambers, I think. Twisted Wedges have 61cc chambers. On a stock bottom end, you'd be looking at dropping .25 or so. I use Dyno 2000 too. Sometimes, the numbers seem way off to me, but other times they seem right. I haven't pinpointed exactly why yet either. I'll see what I get with a B303 in a stock 302.

I got 400 torque at 4000 and 375hp at 5500. These are the numbers at the flywheel using Dyno 2000.

Re: Good buildup to reach 400+ horsepower 302 truck
We must be inputing different numbers for our components.
This is what I have for overall: 401hp @ 6000rpm and 392tq @ 4500rpm This is my flow data on the twisted wedge: This is the cam data for the B303: I got all these numbers from the manufacturer's websites. Note that a lot of the values don't match the included files that came with dyno2000. So if you're using those, then that's where the discrepency lies. I suspect those ones to be in error. Also the stock 302 with just the B303 cam and exhaust gave me 291hp @ 5000rpm and 358tq @ 3500rpm |

Re: Good buildup to reach 400+ horsepower 302 truck
First off, you have your compression still set at 9.0:1. After reading Dark5.0's response to mine, You should have it set to 9.25 or 9.5:1. I had mine set at 8.75:1. I didn't save it and I am on the wrong computer to redo it right now. You have a dual plane manifold selected. That is a carburetor manifold. You should have selected sequential fire injection. I entered 800 cfm for the flow, but I don't know what is correct for that manifold. I am not a fuel injection kind of guy, I like carbs. I had the same head data as you, I am pretty sure anyway. The only other thing I noticed was in the cam. The lobe center angle should be 112.

also box stock twisted wedge heads dont flow 283.. the flow like 250 at .550. with that combo with about 9 to 1 ur lookin at bout i would say in the 330-350 hp range.. 400 is pushin it IMO.
