Ok, lots of people have told me that cammotion custom cams are to mild and leave hp on the table so i sold it.

I am looking at an AFM custom cam since everyone I know with one is happy as hell. I was thinking that the N-41 cam is the one for me. I have. Stock 5.0 shortblock 192cc Canfield heads 2.02 1.60 valves 58cc combustion chambers. Ported cobra intake, 65mm TB E-303 cam 24# injectors, 73mm C&L MAM, 190lph fuel pump 3.73 gears etc.... I am currently running 12.60's @105-106mph @3800ft shifting @6300rpm's Anyone have any input before I drop 300 bux on a cam? Thanks,

FTI (Ed Curtis) seems to be the best way to go. Its 325 bux but well worth it if I pick up some mph and ET. I am dynoing my car next week so I can have a before and after comparison if anyone is interested.

Since you have Canfield heads, I'd call up Jay Allen for a custom cam. He knows those heads inside and out. Do a search on him in the corral.

I ran the N111HP in 2004. Its 250/250@.050 with .500" lift with 1.6:1 rockers. The cam pulled all the way to 8500 for me. I was leaving off the transbrake at 7200 and shifting at 8200+.

Thanks for the offer but I am going to give FTI a shot.

I go to the dyno this Friday at 4:00pm I hope if I send FTI a current dyno, vehicle weight and mods that I can get a cam that will let me take advantage of these high dollar heads I have. My 1/4 mile would be a very low 12 if I were closer to sea level. I am going on a road trip next year to a track were the conditions dont very from 3800-5400FT ![]()

If you're running John's heads (CANFIELD), then Jay is the guy to talk to.

Need to be careful of what John calls "long winded" cams. Volumetric Efficiency increases with RPM, so cam manufactureres like to hang the duration out there. NOT a good thing if you're not winding her up. I'm running a "custom" Cam-Motion cam, and I have NO complaints!!!! None at all!!! We're running a Cam-Motion cam in both of our cars (333 cid is a hyd solid, 347 is a solid roller) and both motors SCREAM! Like Jeff said, my car (347) pulls HARD at 7500 when I shift. The other car (333) pulls all the way up to 7000. Just have to tell Cam Motion that it's a "race" car. They're a little lenient (sp) when it comes to the street. If you're running CANFIELD heads, CALL JOHN and ask him!!!! He won't steer you wrong!

When I ordered the cammotion custom cam I told them it was a street car. Thats why I sold the cam. Now the car is a track only car. It can drive on the street but noone would put an inspection sticker on it. Also the cammotion I ordered had .543 lift on the intake. I have 2.02 intake valves and i thought that it may have been too big.

$30.00 "cam doctor" fee for him to tell me what I need $20.00 shipping __________ $420.00 vs. $345.00 from FTI "Cam Master Jay" is way more expensive than Ed curtis at FTI.I guess I need to do more research to see if he is worth the extra cash or not.

I had the same thing happen with cammotion, and made the mistake of telling them it was driven on the street. Needless to say I pulled that cam out, slapped in an "off the shelf" used $150 (eBay) N-91 and the thing picked up 3 tenths and 3mph with very little track tuning. That being said, although that N-41 is a good cam, I think Jay or Ed could do you up a much better one.

btw, the cam doctor is not for him to tell you what you need, its for him to run a cam and check the exact actual specs of it

My before and after dyno will tell the story. Surely these guys can put the E-cam to shame.

I could probably grind a cam using a raw piece of steel round-stock and a dremel that would put the E-cam to shame

then you factor in the heat/humidity and the corrected altitude is like 6000ft
