Analyzer on this site, flywheel or RW HP figures?
Prob a stupid Q:, but I haven't really checked it out yet.
Is it very useful?

Flywheel, I believe. Hard to predict RWHP considering the possible changes to the driveline.
I think the analyzer can be a helpful tool in some cases. |

Re: Analyzer on this site, flywheel or RW HP figures?
See I would have said RWHP. The equations of motion don't know anything about the internal losses, just what it takes to accelerate a given mass over a fixed distance...that would mean the power required at the ground. Its assuming a linear or constant rate of acceleration too, which is far from reality. Its such a simple calcuation, that it doesn't take in to account other variables such as aerodynamic drag, rolling friction, etc. I'll have to dig out my old physics and mechanics books and see if I can verify the numbers.

Re: Analyzer on this site, flywheel or RW HP figures?
I'm going with Jeff on this one. RWHP. Simple equation, it takes "X" amount of horespower to move "Y" amount of weight at "Z" speed in 1320 feet. Moroso's slide rule has it on there, and it states RWHP on it, so I think the analyzer uses the same formula.
It's useful to "ballpark" your horsepower, and when at the track I always tune to my MPH instead of my ET.

depends which calculator....hp and weight to fig et? or et and trap speed w/ weight to fig hp.
the et calculator must be flywheel, cuz the numbers seem too high, the other i would guess to be rwhp |

If it's indicating RWHP, then I'd trust that's what it is. Mostly I use the analyzer for fuel system guesstimates, and I know that's flywheel.

Re: Analyzer on this site, flywheel or RW HP figures?
The analyzer on this site must be using FWHP. I punched in 500 and 3325 (my cars exact specs) and it was right on the best et and mph.

FWHP, dang Andy, I didn't know you made the move over to the front drive import scene
