Default Electric fuel pump longevity?

I just bought my 3rd after market electric fuel pump in 60,000 miles over a ten year period. The first was a Mallory 110 gal./hr. and the second was a Holley red 97 gal./hr. I went ahead and bought another Holley red just because I have little faith in Mallory products now. I just wondered what kind of service life to expect from an electric fuel pump. This is a caburetor application set at 7-8 psi. Any responses/opinions appreciated.

I've been told electric fuel pumps last much longer if you have a return style regulator.
With the "deadhead" regulators, the pump is always fighting against the back pressure of the unused fuel.

I have the Holley blue and it is setup not to fight the backpressure all the time. It pumps at 14 but regulated at 7.

In other words, you have a return style regulator.

Hey Rev, next time that Red goes south, do yourself a favor and throw a blue on it with a regulator.

One of the VERY first things I learned just after I bought the Stang, Mallory can't make fuel parts. Period. Had one of their regulators giving me a headache for about a month. Funny thing, yank it off the car, throw it over into the weeds, no more headaches!

You should be getting more than 20,000 out of a pump. Running a Relay on it? GOOD BIG WIRES, GOOD GROUND, nuttin smaller than 10 ga. wire, and you should be good to go.

I don't think too much of their ignition products either. I have a Mallory Unilight distributor and I replace that module every 20,000 miles or so at $90 a pop. I also used to run a Hi-Fire 6AL but switched to a MSD after being left on the side of the road a couple of times. I'll probably never buy another Mallory product if I can help it.

REV , there is some good news for you! Mallory has released a new ignition module called the "E module", which is considerably less than the $90 units. I'm on my 3rd module but I just bought the new "E module" through Summit for $38. The part number is" MAA-600M in case you're interested. I just installed it last night but when I went to fire the engine, the battery was low because it's been setting since October, in a cold garage outside so I had to bring the battery in and put it on the charger for the night.(pissed me off!!)
They also make a "power filter" which is "supposed" to filter out voltage spikes that kills modules for another $36
I guess these new modules are supposed to be better than the old ones and less expensive at the same time.

I have very little experience with the electric fuel pumps. I can tell you that with my experience on Mallory ignition parts, I would agree with you Rev and probably not buy their produccts if I could help it.
