Alternator
I have a 190amp alternator and the only time my gauge reads good is when you rev the motor or your driving the car. when its at idle the gauge reads just above the the red. Anyone know why??? This is the third one.

Re: Alternator
Have you put a tester on the battery to see what the alternator is "really" doing??
I'd do that first. Your dash gauge may be wrong. If it reads low, at battery, start by checking the diodes in the alternator and the output. If they are OK, then it has to be in the wiring. Let us know how you're making out.

Re: Alternator
The gauge is right, i recently put a new intake on and let it run a few minutes and saw the gauge was in the red, I then shut it off and tried to start it again and it wouldn't start without a jump.
