That's how I do it and 1/2-3/4 down is plenty. One other thing I do is, after you lock it with the allen set screw, is give it a slight nudge tighter with a socket or box end on the adjuster nut just so I know it's good and tight."Slight nudges" are the key words here. I've heard of people twisting off a rocker stud with a 1/2 inch drive socket on the locking nut.
