hellllp!!!! dampner problems from trans, converter swap
ok, heres my problem... i recently installed a c4, 164 tooth sfi flex, and tci 3800 converter, and am getting a tremendous vibration.. i belive the balancer is wrong, and i need to know what balancer this conbination needs...28.8 50.0 ??? i was told that the 164 tooth flex would definately need a new dampner ..and obviously it does. my motor is a lil 302 that is externally balanced...can ya help? hope so

The flex plate and the dampner work together with the crank to balance the engine. The weight changed around 1980-1981 from 28.8 to 50 oz. Find out what you engine is and get the correct flex plate and dampner to match.
