new motor option
i had a 302 offered to me for what i consider a fair price. brand new motorsport block, i believe its a stock rotating assembly, x cam, and ported out roush heads, i think they are the windsor jrs. anyway my concern is the cylinder heads. has anyone out there run them and been happy with them. i really want to buy this motor, but the heads are a concern. i also am questioning how much improvement this will really be over my stock 302 currently in the car with ported e7's, and E cam. thanks guys.

Re: new motor option
imo windsor jr's are much better than e7's or ported e7's/gt40's
If that is indeed a stock rotating assembly, I hope they cut the pistons to clear that xcam lift, if it was built as a longblock im sure everything clears, but i would specify that before buying it. I would stick with the e-cam anyways, for drivability purposes, I run the ecam and never have drivability problems, with the x-cam you'll just lose lowend power, unless this block is high compression, id stick with the e-cam and windsor jr's.... iron?

Re: new motor option
I agree and believe that the lower end has to not be totally "stock" to clear that x-cam. The Windsor head is going to be better then the ported e7's. If you can get it for a good price, would be worth it as an upgrade.

Re: new motor option
i have the guy down to $2000 for the motor, it comes as a longblock, never run. needs accessories and intake, and can be bolted in. is it worth it? i really want AFR 165's, but this seems more responsible. any suggestions, i've asked all my friends with mixed review. also i'll be selling the motor currently in my car, of course sans edelbrock intake. any suggestions on asking price for that, and would i sell it easier if i left it in the car until it was sold. i'm really fighting myself with this one.

Re: new motor option
I would leave your old motor in the car until you sell it. That way, any potential buyer will be able to see/hear it first.
I have a friend that's running mid 11's on his 351w with Windsor Jr. heads. You could always sell them to offset the price of the AFR heads. If I had the money now, I would offer to buy the Jr. heads right now!

Re: new motor option
I had a set of those heads on my Stang when I first got it, and THEY ROCK!!!! IMHO for an iron head, you can't go wrong with those! I'd take a set of those over 3 sets of ported/polished E7's any day of the week.
If those heads are your only concern about buying that motor, well then in my mind you have NO concern about buying that motor! You will NOT be un-happy with them, trust me.
