Default massair question part 2

If you saw my post a week ago you'll know what im talking about.

my buddy sold me his pro-m 77 flanged nasty big ugly thing, actually im not paying him until i figure out if it will work right.

Could it be too big for my setup? Because i threw it on, and it runs like crap, barely would idle, i finally got it to learn the idle, but when im at a low speed it bucks, and "blub blub whaahhh" takes off alright on the topend, in other words, I think it lost lowend, I only drove it about a mile, so it may have not learned it's tables yet, I guess i'll disconnect the battery once again and see if it learns it.

I do know it works cuz my friend just used it, turned a 13.1 @ 108 with a 165 afr/f-cam/gt-40intake setup, and that was on khumo radials.
I guess i'll give a few long trips and see what happens.

That meter will require calibration to the injectors.
Are you running the same size injectors as your buddy?
If not that is the problem.

If you have different computers that will cause an issue as well, even if you both have the same injectors.

What do you and your friend have for
computer
injectors

My computer is a9l if im not mistaken, We have the same size injectors, well we did, he upgraded to 30's and a matched 80mm, he has bigger heads and cam than me, his car was 1993 5spd, now a c4 trans, his computer was not an a9l, it was something else, I think with an "s" in it or something?
We also ran the same mas on another 93 lx and it ran fine, but he blew an intake gasket and it spewed oil everywere in the intake, i did correctly clean this though, but not the filter, I'll try that since the filter could be dirty with motor oil.

Also, some clarification is in order for how the computer "learns"

The computer is not creating new values in any of the fuel tables.

However, when the computer sees consitantly rich/lean readings from the O2s, a multiplier is created. This multiplier is commonly referred to as the KAMRF (Keep Alive Memory Reference).
The KAMRF is then multiplied against the injector pulsewidth that is calculated.
If a lean condition exists the KAMRF will increase to greater than 1. A KAMRF of 1.08 will increase the injector pulsewidth by 8%.
A KAMRF of .98 will decrease the injector pulsewidth by 2%.
A KAMRF of 1.00 will obviously make no change to the injector PW.

The only value that changes is the KAMRF.

A KAMRF is calculated for engine load and engine speed.
This means that the KAMRF for 1800rpm/20% load, will not necessarrily be the same as 2500rpm/25% load.

There is an upper limit of 12-15% (depending on who you ask). Beyond this point the computer cannot compensate for rich/lean conditions.
I suspect that with your friends air meter you are maxing out your KAMRFs, but still not hitting stoich.

Man that was technical, sounds like you know the eec on these car's.
Im not new to this either, I just dont swap massair's too often.

Ok, only complaint i have now, is it will buck at a low speed, like 2nd gear cruising in my subdivision, i got on a open road and it spun the tires all the way through 2nd, and it actually felt smoother in the upper rpm's, that warmed it up real good and it didnt buck as bad in the low rpms once it was warm.
I think the car needs a good 10 mile trip or so, and it should be good, Probaly hit the track next week, i'll be happy if I run the same times i do, maybe just a tad better
