ok so i was having trouble getting a tranny filter for this tranny i got from the junkyard, well apparently it's not a c-4 like i thought, it came out of a i believe 76 thunderbird, ok but the tranny must have been swapped, its an FMX tranny and I have heard that they are crap, but I just want a tranny that will make this driveable until I get my T-5 ready, now what is the big deal with the FMX transmission being crap? whats so bad about it?

I'm not aware of any inherent problems with the FMX transmission. Well, other than the fact they're not particularly efficient, rather large, and its hard to find parts/people to work on them.

ok, but everything seems to be right sized, its a hella' lot smaller then the c-6 i have and it seems similar in length to the c-4, the tranny isnt all that big, i mistook it for a c-4 until i saw the tranny pan and the internals

ALOT heavier than a C-4... center is cast iron, probably a big reason they arent used in racing. Transgo makeas a shift kit for it.. but thats about it.
