![]() ok so i was having trouble getting a tranny filter for this tranny i got from the junkyard, well apparently it's not a c-4 like i thought, it came out of a i believe 76 thunderbird, ok but the tranny must have been swapped, its an FMX tranny and I have heard that they are crap, but I just want a tranny that will make this driveable until I get my T-5 ready, now what is the big deal with the FMX transmission being crap? whats so bad about it?

![]() I'm not aware of any inherent problems with the FMX transmission. Well, other than the fact they're not particularly efficient, rather large, and its hard to find parts/people to work on them.

![]() ok, but everything seems to be right sized, its a hella' lot smaller then the c-6 i have and it seems similar in length to the c-4, the tranny isnt all that big, i mistook it for a c-4 until i saw the tranny pan and the internals

![]() ALOT heavier than a C-4... center is cast iron, probably a big reason they arent used in racing. Transgo makeas a shift kit for it.. but thats about it.
