Opening rear hatch without key
Is there anyway to open the hatch from the inside if the key is lost?
I don't want to call a locksmith?

Re: Opening rear hatch without key
If, big if, you can get in the hatch area and drop the plastic from around the latch, you may be able to unbolt it. Other than that, a locksmith it is.

The only way is to do what The Methodist said. Crawl up there and get the trim off and unbolt. Tight quarters, but can be done.

Re: Opening rear hatch without key
Well...good new and more good news. My interior is all but gutted but I found out another way to get in from OUTSIDE the car.
Apparently, there is a little plate under the lock which can be unbolted and the cylinder replaced.......... or removed and opened with a screwdriver.

Re: Opening rear hatch without key
Yep. The hatchback Mustang's have a serious inherent design flaw when it comes to theft with that riveted plate. I've seen a number of the plates with a philips head screw rather than the rivet, making it a 30sec operation.
