Default trick flow stage 1, 1.7 rr, and gt40 heads

will this combination work? trick flow stage 1, 1.7 rr, and gt40 heads. what is the max lift for gt40 heads with the stock '89 block and pistons? i think this combo is 530/544. will the piston hit? i know of someone who ran a e303 with 1.7 rockers and gt40p heads, but does anyone know someone running the tfs, 1.7, and gt40 heads? i accidently ordered 1.7 rockers already, but didn't order the cam yet. if i have to i can order the e303 cam, but i would rather use the tfs if possible since i think it is a better cam. also, what is the easiest way to check for clearance. please help, thanks.

I use to run e7's, with the TFS-1 and 1.7 roller rockers and had no issues with clearance.

I personaly would run the E303 over the Trick flow stage 1 cam. I have personaly ran a .566/.566 lift 218/224 duration @.050 comp cam with a stock block with stock untouched pistons.

In other words you should be good to go unless the heads are milled down or something.

ALWAYS CHECK PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE!!!!!!!!

Do a search I have posted the method many times.

so why to you say use the e303 over the tfs? most people like the tfs. i like the sound of the e303 better, and i heard that the gt40 heads only gain power to .500 lift, so the e303 would be fine. then again, i plan on purchasing a set of afr 165 heads later, so maybe the tfs cam will work better considering future upgrades.

Let me put it this way. My old set-up was Canfield aluminum heads that flowed about 270cfm out the box, a ported cobra intake and an E303 cam. I put down 308RWHP and 332RWTQ totaly untuned. I was running mid 12's all day long at 4000+ft of altitude and running 108-109mph in the 1/4. I thought I must be leaving some HP on the table with the E303 cam. I spent the big bucks, 325 bux to be exact on a FTI Ed Curtis custom ground camshaft .566/.566 lift and 218/224 duration and really didnt notice much if any gains over the E-303 cam.

The E303 cam can present problems such as Idle surge and low vacuum on some cars but it is an excellent performer.

If I were choosing a cam for a car with GT-40 heads I would probably go with the B-303 cam or just leave the stock cam in there with 1.7 roller rockers.

The GT40 heads are better than E7's but not buy a whole bunch.

Yep, i remember you saying that before.
So many people bash the e303, but it sounds good imo too, and im happy with my 107-8 mph traps, eventually I'll have to get rid of it, when i do, im going with a comp cam.

I would go with the TFS #2 cam, I have AFR 165's and the #1 cam an when we checked P-to-V clerance the valve didn't even touch the clay. The TFS #1 is pretty mild and plenty streetable It pulls hard but I expected more I guess, but I'm pleased with it overall
