Help!!
Alright ... well i just bought a 1994 mustang gt with only 54,000 miles on it! I had it checked out and it's not putting out nearly enough power. 0-35mph it just feels like it's lagging, the RPM's just don't rise very fast at all. they checked the exhaust and it's not restricted or anything, the ignition system is all good, the timing is all good, and when they scanned the computer it showed all the normal readings!!! I don't know what the heck is wrong with it ... it's like I bought a GT with a v6 in it! could it be that the computer is screwed up or something? any input would help PLEASE!! thanks

Re: Help!!
You mentioned the exhaust isn't restricted, meaning it doesn't have cats? If not, that's a start. Gears will help with the RPM rise. The 94 auto's are heavy cars, the auto alone takes away around 7%-15% of hp through the drivetrain. You might try advancing the timing until it starts to ping, then bring it down a couple degrees, you can run higher timing with higher octane, but it's gonna cost you with gas prices these days. Do a tune up, an aftermarket air filter will allow better flow and fresh plugs and such will help as well. Have a shop do a leak down test, check the compression to make sure you're getting everything you should out of the 8 cylinders that are firing, then we can go from there. Good luck.

Re: Help!!
I'm assuming, from the posts, that there aren't any cats on car. Even the small ones up by the manifolds are gone....right.
Check and make sure the transmission is starting in 1st gear. Also, check to see if the convertor is messed up and not being lose enough. Check fuel pressure and fuel filter. Check the harmonic balancer for slippage. Last check the timing chain and see if it has jumped. All of that should keep you busy for a while...
