Urgent Question RE: Fuel Pump / Line
Hi, I am about to purchase a mustang to put a 351w into but it is not running. Granted its a decent condition car and onle 800 but there is a problem. I am pretty familiar with mustangs and vehicles in general but I have not yet seen the car as it is far away. I was wondering if anyone might know what it is. The seller said that the car cranks but does not turn over. He sprayed starter into it and it started right up according to him. He said that he took it to A tires PLus, not exactly the best mechanics, and they did an inspection on it and he said that he was quoted at 70.00 to fix it. Apparently as he describes it they said there was something wrong with either a hose or a wire ( did not specify ) that is covered in that black flex pipe / it runs from the engine, under the carpet and then under the vehicle and to the gas tank / fule pump ( did not specifiy ) I know this is kind of a vauge description but I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it may be so I know if its worth it for me to purchase the car. I know its the holidays but if anyone could answer me as soon as possible I would greatly appreciate it. THanks and just respond if any other info could help you.

Re: Urgent Question RE: Fuel Pump / Line
I take it that this is an electronic fuel pump?
If so when you trun the start key to the run posion you should hear the pump if not it could be a number of things, from the pump bad, open wire to the pump, shorted wire. just some things to start with |

If your upgrading to a 351w are you planning on upgrading the fuel system too? I wouldnt worry about it if your plan is to mod it immediately. Starter fluid isnt the best idea either!

Quote:
Could be the inirtia switch or fuel pump relay. You need to be there to see if you can hear the pump like mentioned. It should come on for around 3-5 seconds to prime the system and then shutoff.
