Help needed
the other day i picked up an 95 gt with the automatic. when you apply brakes it goes to stall. when you get it in reverse it wants to stall but it wont it the rpms will surge and it will backfire. but once you get going in drive it runs fine until you hit the brakes coming to a stop and it will stall. i spent all of yesterday fixing vacuum leaks and it idles better but still same stalling conditions. anyone got any hints to look for? maybe bad brake booster?
thanks |

Re: Help needed
i sprayed it with carb cleaner and saw nothing. i pinched the line off and the same conditions were still there. i also tried shuttin the car off and seeing if the brake pedal dropped with steady pressure on it and it didnt. it has me stumped its probably something stupid im over looking.

Re: Help needed
Throw a vacuum gauge on there, my bet is there is still a leak somewhere. Should be around 12-14in at idle...

Re: Help needed
i figured it out. what it was is the guy before be tried to put in some after market lights in the tail lights so he figures he should rewire it. and in doing so he grounded the tail lights to the fuel pump. so everytime you hit the brakes or put it in reverse it would pull power from the fuel pump and stall.

Re: Help needed
yea for sure it was a pain. i didnt even think of it me and a couple of buddys were sittin around having a beer thinking about it and out of the blue one of my buddys said look for a bad ground. and i noticed the tail lights were very dim. so i popped the trunk and saw some ghetto rigged wiring and got out the test light and grounded it and the problem was solved. now the car runs like a champ.
