Post Everyones 60 foot times...

Hey everyone! I have a question.... Everyone puts down there 1/4 ET and MPH and their 60 foot time in their signature it seems like. I've seen so many 60 foot times that seem just really bad... Like cars running 13's that get a 60ft. of 2.3??? Whats with this?
My Mustang GT on 225/55/16 BFG HR4 tires ran a 2.068 60ft with all stock suspension at the time and thats with spin.
Come on... is everyone putting their 60ft. time down to make it sound like the car could go faster if it got traction or something?

Just curious!

Damn straight. My 60' sucks for a few reasons. One I am new at drag racing and more skilled at open track, therefore I need to work on launch. Second with more power holding back on the launch is even more difficult and traction/tire selection becomes more important. basically it will show whether or not your car has potential for better et's.
For example I just did a run in 50deg weather with DR and best 60' was a 2.09 it should be 1.90's or so therefore high 12 sec performance.
So yeah there should be a better time slip for me somewhere.

Cool

my best 60ft when the car was stock with 3.55's was 2.03 on 235/60/14 radial T/A's.. no DR's for me.. NOW, it's hard to get under a 2.20 on regular street tires...as the HP goes up, the harder it is to launch..
my suspension is bone stock from 84 with the stock slapper bars, stock bushings etc...

I've run 1.7's on DR's and 2.1's on street tires w/ my current set up. Dark Knight is completely right, as your HP goes up the harder it is to launch w/out roasting them. It's not too difficult to rip off a 2.0 w/ streets on a stock Stang. Yes, it's true.....your times will be faster if your 60' are lower/have better traction. I'm not quite sure I understood your question.

A lot of track hook for crap too. It is not always the driver.

My personal best is a 1.65 yankin' both tires!!

(too bad the track has not hooked like that for me since...)

I Ran A Best Of 2.24 60 ft, i launch at 2000rpm, any higher and it spins.
i ran a 14.691@94.7 with that launch.

how much could my times improve if i could get the best 60ft? also, how should i launch on these tires? should i put my newer(little worn) tires on to help?

Well, I just ran 60ft on wet pavement, about the best I could do is around 2.6 or so, using the 1...2.. done method.

LOL

i just went to my local track tonight and it REALLY sucked, it was like launchin on ice, there were about 100 ricers there probably dripping crap on the track
one run i banged 2nd gear and spun sideways about 30-40 degrees, thats scary
i was running 2.2-2.4 60fts

by the way my best is a 2.01 on 225/60 street tires, compared to a 2.16 on 275 drag radials, hmm go figure

It's hard to lunch with the stock gear. My best 60 foot with 2.73 was 2.19 and with my 3.55 my best 60 foot is 1.98. Both were done with the swaybar removed. The track can make a big difference. A lot of guys with gear in the back cut 60 foot time around 2.05-2.10 on street tire at my track.
