Default Heater Core Help

Hi All,
I have a 1989 Mustang GT with AC that started leaking Antifreeze onto the floor this morning. I only drive the car occassionally in the summer and never use the heater or the AC. Is there a safe way to bypass the Heater Core without having it lead to other problems like overheating? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Chad

Take the water lines goin to the firewall(heater core) and run them together.....water lines on top of each other and run then to eachother with a hose........simple fix!!!!! basically bypassing it if you dont want it!!!!

Thanks. Will this lead to any over heating problems? Also, I was searching some old posts and saw some notes about a sensor in one of the lines, is this something I have to worry about?

Replacing my heater core in my 91 was one of the worst jobs I ever did on my car. Its a pain, but you gotta do it if you want no leaks and want heat. If not, just bypass the heater as posted before.
Get a manual if you decide to do it. Even a Chiltons manual will get you on the right track.

Thanks everyone for the help. I bypassed it and its working fine for now. Now I just need to find out if my valves are ticking or if its an exhaust leak... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
