Default gt 40p engine

I need help. I bought a 2001 302 out of an explorer and want to put it in an older mustang with a carburetor. What should I do about the cam.

Default Re: gt 40p engine

depends on what you are goin to do..i put my old motor in my friends car it was a stock bottom end with stock ported heads and we left the stock fuel injection cam ,dual plane edlebrock intake ,the carb was a 600 or 650 holley.355 gears t5 transmission.it runs low 13s in the 1/4 mile.the injection cams are usally made on a 112 lobe seperation angle.with a carb i would get a cam made on a 108 lobe seperation angle so it could breath better.also that cam is prolly more for towing and low end power because its from a truck..but it all depends on what intake ,heads, and gears you are going to use to make a good decision
