88 GT Needs cam info
Just bought this car and want to build a somewhat stock engine. All stock except shorty headers. What cam will give a little power increase without replacing everything.

Is it a speed density car? They only cars in 88 that where mass air where the Cali cars for EPA regulations. If it is speed density the ECM will not handle a cam change very well, or anything much more than stock for that matter. If it is speed density i would do a mass air conversion first.

Speed density is a lot more flexible than most people think. That said, a cam change will not help your power production on a stock engine, period. You might even notice a little decrease in performance. The stock HO cam is the last part that will limit performance on an HO engine.
The intake and heads will restrict you long before the camshaft will. |
