Default c4 transmission

I have a 66 mustang with a 1985 302ho and a c4 transmission, it is time for the transmission to be rebuild which i am going to do myself'
i would like to built/upgraded some parts like a performance clutch kit,servo,hard input shaft. is a shift kit as good as a street/strip valve body? and a low drag wide ratio planet gear worth it? any advice would be appreciated

if u get a good valve body it will have the shift kit in it.my buddy had one of thoes tci man/auto valve bodys he liked it.a good planetary is a great idea.harded 1-2 servo is a must.

oh yea 1 more thing to look into is a redneck c4 cuz there 1250 complete with converter and they actually take a beating,i know a guy thats on his second season with his stang running 9.6's in the 1/4 with it.the only thing is im pretty sure they only come in a rev man valve body
