Everything but reverse

Hi.
I bought a 5l that has been sitting for a couple years.
Everything is workng fine except thar when i shift into reverse it doesnt work. The car will move slowly but when I rev it will dot do anything. And sometimes it will not do anything, i will rev it all day but in reverse it wont move. All the other gears work fine.

Any idea whats wrong?

you didnt give any information on the car,year,what tranny you have and what not
