well I set the TPS to just below 1. Then I grabbed a test light and checked out one of the fuel injectors. With KOEO, both the wires were live and when the engine cranked over the light pulsed. While I was double checking spark through the wires with another test light, the motor coughed once, but it wouldn't fire up.

It really sounds like the TFI module. I know you replaced it, but do you have access to a known good one, just to check?

Which firing order does that cam call for, and is that the same firing order that your ECM is programmed for? How's it set?

Have you verified TDC on the balancer with the rotor?

It really sounds like an ignition problem, more specifically, a module problem. I would try replacing the module with a known good one, and then verify the static timing. You're close. All the other problems have disappeared with the bad ECM. A bad ECM could have damaged the TFI module. I really wish you were closer. You're at the point now where I need to be under the hood.

Take care,
-Chris

If my TFI module was bad, would I still have spark? I'll see if I can find one and swap them out to see if that's it. As far as the cam, it's a Non-roller cam. Therefore the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Just like the older 302's. I know of a few people who run Non-HO cams in their stangs without problems, so I don't think that's it. I'll keep playing with it and post any results I find that may help. Thanks again,
Dave

IT'S ALIVE!!!! well sort of. I was under the car again replacing the fuel filter. I noticed that the line that comes out of the filter and connects to the steel line that runs up to the motor had a worn spot in it where it had rubbed against another line. I put the new filter in and the car coughed a few times then started. During the short time that it ran, I went around to the back of the car (still jacked up in the air) and looked under it at that worn spot on the line. It was slowly leaking which probably was letting air into the lines which combined with an old fuel filter wouldn't let the car start. Shortly after I saw this, the car died. I'll get another line and replace it and I'm sure that will fix this problem. I didn't see this earlier because the hole wasn't visible until I disconnected the line from the filter.

PKRWUD: Thanks for all of your help and hopefully this will be the end of this problem for me.
Dave
