Post 12 second car?

I was curious would this tank of mine hit the 12-plus second mark adding the following:

Plan to get:

Cobra intake
65 mm T/B
73-75 mm MAF meter
75 shot of NOS
1.6 or 1.7 roller rockers
190 lfp

What I have now:

3.73 Gears
Lentech AOD street Terminator "plus" 2800 stall
ASP underdrive pulleys
Flowtech Long Tube Headers
Off road h-pipe
K&N 12" conical filter system
GT40 P heads
2-Chamber Flowmaster cat-back system
MSD 6A ignition
and a few thinkgs I can't think of of the top of my head...

I want 12's, is this possible with the added mods to my present.

Thanks

Sounds like you are off to a good start. I'd get my heads ported, or buy a new set. Go with the 1.7 rockers. Sell your 3.73's and get a set of 3.55's. The 3.73's will be too much for a 12 sec car. Oh, nevermind, you will be using N2O. The combo you have planned sounds like a solid 12.7-12.9 car. Hope it goes faster!

It should already run 12's when you get your heads and intake on.

I agree with 93CobraR...you should be in the 12s or real close with just the heads & intake.

I went a 7.70 at 89mph on less than that and a 75hp shot of NOS, I would say with a good set of slicks you should be able to hit a easy low 12 sec et with good traction.

Dont listen to him about the gears or selling your heads. Those heads make great power. That setup COULD yeild you 12's with good traction with out the NOS shot, but it may not. I suggest milling your heads before you put them on to gain some compression. Higher compression works fine with nitrous. With the 75 shot I see no reason you shouldn't hit mid-low 12's.

By the way, that time was run with 3.55 gears, exhaust, k&n, 75 hp NOS, suspension, and slicks.

For the record, I wasn't telling him to change his gears. I was just suggesting that for a high horse car, 3.55's would be better suited.

I also suggested that he concider porting his heads, or buying a new set, since it costs about the some price. Didn't mean to confuse any of you. Have fun, and drive safe.

Yeah you should be close to 12's with the heads and intake. Don't change the gear. 373's are fine. I think you'll be fine with what you've got.

I would not say he has a "high horsepower" car. 3.73's or 4.10's would be perfect for that AOD.

He would need to go down to a 3.55 when his trap speeds exceed 120 mph. Then he could just use 28" tall tires.

You'll hits 12's with some hook for sure.

The heads, intake and TB/MAF combo should be more than enough to get you into the twelves. However, I'd dump those 3.73's for something more in the area of 4.10's or 4.30's for that AOD. You may find with the new combination that your torque converter needs to be changed. You'll be making quite a bit more HP&TQ so its going to stall out differently that what you're used to with the old combination.

Jeff,

Change Convertor to what seeing I already ordered the tranny, now did I just waste $2395, with the 10" convert and I believe 2800-3000 stall. I just ordered this thing and haven't recieved it yet, now I am nervous. Tell me more Jeff, if you would. Thanks

If you discussed your plans with the the guys at Lentech, then you should be alright. If anybody knows the AOD, its those guys (I've got one too). But the stall converter behavior is really dependent on the application. A 2800 stall converter will work differently on your 5.0l motor than the same converter will on a monster 460 big-block. How, when and where your torque appears is the big driver.

If you told Len what you were planning you'll be OK. Even without any dyno curves from your motor/car, they've got a good idea of what the torque curve will look like and what/where the peak will be. That along with your basic information should be enough.

If the AOD holds you back a 1/2 second as opposed to t-5, I would expect you to come in around 12.20-12.40 @ about 112
I have stock heads,cam,intake,rockers,etc.
Just 4.10's,exhaust, a/c delete,smog delete,pullies, bbk cold-air,75 shot &
Suspension stuff.
