306 No power adder 11.- - ?? This COMBO???
My engine builder is suggesting this kit to me... He said it will run solid 11's.
Rebuilt stock short block (306 w/ 9.5:1 and eagle rods) Canfield SBF Head Complete 1.94x1.60 (pair) Stage 2 port and Machine work 5.0L EFI Intake - SystemMax2 SystemMax 2 upper and Lower Stage 2 port and machine work SVO 30lb/hr Injectors 79-93 1 5/8 longtube headers 79-93 Longtube off road 2 1/2 SBC 1.6 Roller Rockers 7/16th Extuded Alum Rockers 89-93 75mm 40# conical 5.0L HR Cam 224/230 533' 544' Tell me what you think... I dont think i'm making a mistake with this kit! It will be driven on the street (back and fourth to work a few days a week and on cruise night)... Not a daily driver but something that will run really fast without alot of loss in reliability. Where do you think this would put me ET wise??? I'm also going to upgrade to drag springs and 90/10 50/50's.... and probably pull the backseats and sway bars from my GT.... It also will have a 3000-3500 (not sure yet) stall converter w/a Lentech AOD. ------------------ Joe Zemaitis, Grand Rapids Michigan 1991 Mustang GT. Mods to date: 4.10 rear end, new POSI, aluminum driveshaft, AOD w/ shift kit, 2 1/2 off road h-pipe, 2 1/2 flowmasters and 2 1/2 tail pipes. Electric fan, Removed air pump and egr tube. Hotchkins upper and lower control arms. New energy suspension rear busings. Hoosier Quick Time Pro 27x10.5x15 and bolt on subframes soon to be welded. Everything else is STOCK. Totally stock ENGINE. 14.29@96 with 130k miles. |

Change the headers to ceramic 1-3/4 and plan on a lot of tuning with an aftermarket computer system or chip, i.e. EEC-Tuner, JMS chip, etc. The heads have kind of large intake runners for a 302. Ported TW or AFR 165's might be a better choice to keep some semblance of low speed torque especially with the AOD. With that cam and high flow heads, shoot for a 3500-4000 stall on the convertor and 6300-6400 shift points. It should run 11's when lined out with 4.30 gears and 26x10 slicks and suspension work- remove front sway bar, leave rear in place or spring for aftermarket drag rear bar.

You should be hitting 11's w/ that combo. I think you could leave the headers at 1 5/8" and the 4.10's though. As for the AOD I couldn't tell ya......I'm a 5-speed guy

I think it can hit a high 11. I ran 12.3 @ 112 with a 1.7x 60 ft with a simple basement built 302 with TFS heads, an E cam, and a Holley Systemax intake.

Hey guys.. I decided to stay far far away from excessive motorsports... I've only heard bad things about them.
I'm going with a place called Total Engine Airflow. There combo sounds more realistic! Higher compression, bigger cam, and bigger valves. Thanks! |

TEA is definitely the way to go. He knows TF Twisted Wedge heads like no one else in the business.
He also used to work for Holley there in Bowling Green before he started his business. |
