What fan with your supercharger?
My stock fan is not keeping up since my supercharger. It runs cold as long as I am moving but as soon as I hit trafic I heat up.
I have a FMS aluminum radiator. So between my radiator and my pullie for my S/C I have just about 4 inches. What fan can I fit in there to drop the temp? I still use my stock fan. All I have is a cheap 3 row rad from advance, and the rest of the cooling system is stock. My car is a 5 speed so I don't know the heating difference with an auto. Not really sure that just a fan will fix your problem. You may have something else wrong. I have a lot more mods than you and mine still runs cool.

you might want to try a slimline fan..it might clear or you can put it in the front of the radiator and use it as a pusher...also you might want to change thermostats first to a 180...that might help some...good luck.

Yup, you should change your thermostat to a 180* if you haven't already.
I run a 180* thermostat with the stock fan & radiator and have no cooling problems what-so-ever.I do plan however on changing to a Fluidyne aluminum radiator just to drop some weight from the front-end. ------------------ Paxton Blown 87GT |

It sounds like a non-fan problem to me too. Change your thermostat and go from there...

I run a brass 3 core FMS radiator. With the blower brackets and such, I ended up buying a dual Flex-lite fan. It's maybe a couple of inches thick. I believe it pulls about 2200 CFM, and I have had no problems sitting in traffic with it.

I am running same fan as buddha, Flexlite dual 12" with a Griffin radiator. Have not had any overheating problems with my combination. Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like the fan clutch is bad. Try spinning the fan, if it doesn't stop pretty soon after you let go its bad.
The stock mechanical setup will out cool any other setup. Alot of people, including myself, use electric fans for the increase in hp due to less rotational mass. If you decide to go with an electric fan don't skimp, its going to take a 3g alternator and an sn-95 or mark VIII style fan with a very high electric draw to keep a highly mod'd stang cool. I think I'm going to put my stock fan setup back on for the really hot months this summer leaving the electric for the cooler months. Well I thought it was the clutch also so I changed it out with no change. I know you saying to get a 180* thermostat now I have a 160 ( what the guy at summit told me to get. Would that hurt me that much?

Definitelt try the 180 thermostat, and make sure the radiator is not all clogged up. I also run a Special Service fan clutch, and a flow restrictor in the inlet hose to the heater core. No problems unless I sit in Houston traffic on a hot humid day for an extended period of time...then it gets towards about 200 on the Autometer gage. Good luck...

i have a vortech s trim and run a griffin nascar alum radiator.. i have two fans on it..one is a puller in back near engine and one a pusher on front that i control in heavy traffic..just flip the switch on and the temp comes down..also the 180 thermostat will help a lot.
