Post I will spend $900 tomorrow... suspension&raceseats...

Ok guys, I have exactly $900, nothing more. I want to once and forall get my suspension done. That means new springs, and struts and some traction bars or something of that nature.

I also need 2 race seats fully equipped. That means mounts, coverings etc. I figure these will be about $150 each fully assembled. So that leaves $600 for the suspension.

I am also going to have to have the springs installed somewhere so money has to be left over for that. Anyone know how much that will cost?

Also any recommendations on the race seats? I know they wont be as comfortable as my Saleen seats now, but I want something fairly decent.

Thanks,

Skyler

Sky,

I have those JAZ racing seats. They are about 75 bucks each and come with vinyl covers. The factory brackets can be easily modified to work with the JAZ seat. Summit racing sells them.

For suspension, Eibach drag launch kit, 250.00, 90/10's 200.00, and 50/50 rears. 50 bucks. Thats 500 total, plus you'd pay a shop around here about 150 to install them and give it an alignment.

That comes out to about 900.00 even.

I agree exgmguy- I am getting ready to get the JAZ seats but I am going ot get the Velour covers instead of the plastic, and the stock brackets will work will a little modifying. I also like the idea of the Eibach, 90/10 and 50/50 for that new 351W. Why not buy a spring compressor ($80.00) or rent one and put the springs in your self. The front ones are a little tricky but you can do it yourself and save some money.

Good Luck,

Rick

I installed my springs, struts and shocks myself and they weren't that hard to do. It was about a 3 hour job.

Do you need to use a spring compressor? I haven't done the springs on a Mustang, but I did an '89 Camaro a few years ago (Yes, I USED to own one) and I was able to put a floor jack under the A-arm, unbolt the strut, lower the jack and pop the spring out that way. Can you do the Mustangs that way?

When I did my Eibach springs you need a spring compressor those things are s much taller and they are tricky to get in when you have compressed them. I used the compresser to take the stocks ones off just so they didn't fly anywhere. They hold enough energy to put a hole in your fender or what evr is in their path, but I agree I would do it myself to save the money. You need only basic sockets and wrenches to put the shocks and struts on, a impact gun helps speed things up. You need a jack and jack stands and a spring compresser to do the springs

So the Jaz seats are nice huh? I was looking at the Jegster pro high back race seats in Jegs. The seat is $37.99 and the cover is $34.99. So around $80 a seat. They look pretty nice. How do these compare to the Jaz's? Exgm- Do you have a pic of yours? Also do I need new 5 point harness belts or can I use stock seat belts?

And I think Im gonna go with 70/30 struts up front.

Also has anyone used the Eibach drag launch kit? How much does it kill your handling. I know my car handles pretty damn well now. It kicks the crap outta my integra. I just don't want it to be a complete boat when I'm done.

Don't expect to out handle a integra any more, but they transfer weight great. I am really happy with mone but the rest of my suspension is set up for going straight.
