It is very important to know if it was salt or fresh water & what level it reached.
If it was salt at or above the dash , leave this one alone.

If you buy it, be prepared to be a long term owner. Flood damaged cars are hard to sell, so if the car turns out to have a ton of problems, you'll be up a creek with no paddle.

Try to find out how flooded, and by what kind of water it was flooded. It's also important to know how long the Cobra was snorkeling.

Check the oil, make sure there is no water in there. Even if it's clean, you're gonna have to change all the fluids. That includes the gas.

Everything will need cleaning, the interior may be past saving. The carpet should come out for sure. It'll need to be steam cleaned.

Damage to the electrical system is possible, likely if the water level got very high. The computer will need to be taken apart and inspected, along with an inspection of any electrical components that went below the water line.

You should give it a tremendously throrough cleaning, everywhere you can get water or a rag. Inside the door panels, underneath, everywhere, take apart everything that the water got into and clean it. After that bring it to Ziebart and have them rustproof it and all that jazz.

Basically anything and everything that came in contact with the water will need to be cleaned, flushed, and inspected.

Thumbs down

A friend of mine bought a flood car and had nothing but trouble. He had to go though all the electrical connections and clean off the corrosion. Even when he did this he still had problems. The car went though a fresh water flood. I wouldn’t touch any car that had been though a salt water flood.

If this car was a fresh water flood just over the rockers, it may be worth a look if the price is right.
One way to tell what level the water may have reached is to pull an interior trim panel off & check the back side for a stain. also look around the engine bay. It may have a stain or bathtub ring at high water level.

If it was totally submerged I would consider it a parts only vehicle.

Unless it was a total steal that you could make some dough off of in parts only, I would avoid it like a fat chick at a hotdog stand....
