Talking Putting in 2031 Saturday

I picked up my cam this afternoon - I'll be putting it in Saturday. I've got all the gaskets and cam lube. I'm not changing the lifters or the chain - they've got like 10,000 miles on them since the engine is pretty new. I'm still kicking myself for not going with the better cam when I had it built in the first place. Any last minute pointers? Keep your eyes out for desperation posts if I run into problems. Hope I can get it done tomorrow.

Sounds good, are you going to run it with the 1.7 rockers? That should have a nasty lope with all that lift :-D. You dont have flat top pistons anymore do u?

If you would help me swap my E-303 out, and put in a different cam I would give it to you for free. Its identical to the 2031. Oh well.. I'll do it eventually. I just dont want to dive into a cam install anytime soon. Lol

Skyman - No, the block is a CCM GT40P long block, hyper pistons. Also, the 2031 isn't quite identical to the E-303 - it's a split duration, I think it's .519/216 intake, .530/220 exhaust. You'll get to see it at Carlsbad in March.

I"ve got the 2031 in my car w/ the 1.7 rockers, and it has a nazzzty lope when it idles around 900 or 1,000rpm. you will definitely like it. and i run flat top pistons...don't know what that matters...lol

Well, I didn't get it done today. Cam is in, I need to check it and make sure it's lined up right tomorrow. I've been taking a little time and painting brackets and valve covers, cleaning up the wiring a little.
I have a question on re-installing the timing chain cover - is there some kind of trick to getting the cover back on without my oil pan gaskets sliding off or not lining up when I push it over that key on the bottom right hand bolt of the cover?
