Cat back systems
I'm trying to decide between Flomaster II or III chamber cat back systems, or Dynomax Ultra flow's. I've read Dynomax produces a little more HP. How about the sound? I'm looking for more sound than stock, but not real loud. Anybody compare these two brands for sound? thanks. Stan

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. Not quite a mustang yet but my lincoln could use a dual exhaust. Alot of people have 2 chambers for sale. On the flowmaster website they talk about their products and they have a very basic bargraph that basically states they make noticeable noise inside the car whereas the 3 chambers don't make too much. I really wanna get some 3 chambers but I can't afford anything new so I may have to go with the 2's

I have Dynomax Super Turbo's. The Ultraflows are louder I believe. Right now, I'd choose the Flomaster Delta flows. They move the resonance up to the 3000rpm area, instead of the 2000 area. Much better!

I have the Dynomax Super Turbo cat back and while I like it, I think I might have liked the Flowmaster sound better. The Mac system has the nice chrome tips, and my dynomax has the Stainless tips, not sure about the flowmaster, but I'm sure it's at least stainless. If you got the bucks, I've heard nothing but happy responses from people who have the Borla system, real mellow. If you don't want too loud the 3 chambers are the way to go. My pony sounds mean with the full exhaust, headers, o/r x pipe and cat back, but not obnoxious.

What ever you do never consider a magnaflow. I have one on my car and I am trying to get warrenty service, because there is almost nothing left of the mufflers and the tailpipes literally fell off. The system just plain does not fit. The only thing it has going for it is that it sounds good. Or I would have myself a MAC or Flowmaster

I have Dynomax Race Magnums (2 1/2) necked down to my stock 2 1/4 pipes. I picked them because of the supposedly better flow and because I wanted the straight through design.
I did notice a slight bump in power compared to my blown out stock muffs. The tone the RM's is really nice. They are not very loud though, most likely because of the stock 4-cat setup. They sound really sweet from about 2300 & up. I have minimal 2K highway drone. I do like load pipes though, gotta love that V-8 sound in our world of rice. I've been thinking about gutting the two rear cats just to see what happens. Anybody done this? Results? Someday I'll have the $$ for a better system but I just want a little more db for now. ------------------ Spec Service (UHP), Paint, 16x7.5 ALBA's w/BFG G-Force KDW's, TC 3.55's w/disks, K Bell Ramair, March pulleys, Race Magnums, D/S loop, MM 4point rollbar, FMS C springs & strut tower brace, Tokico Illuminas, KB welded subs. |

Man the sound clip for the Dynomax Ultra Flow is great. think I'm sold. next question; as you know, the stock muffler is all one piece, including tail pipes. Could I just get the Ultra Flow mufflers and have Midas "cut" out the old muffler only, and weld the mufflers into the existing tail pipe which is still perfect? (saves a buck)

I'm running MAC long tubes, MAC Pro Chamber crossover, and the MAC cat back. It all bolts together great and as you heard it sounds wicked.
