I seriously hope I've got it here. I knew this sounded so familar. ITS IDENTICAL to what happened when I had a plug wire too close to a header and it melted the insulation. AT higher rpm it would jump through the wire to the header and short out, creating this exactly situation. This might not be it, but check all that stuff out asap!
