Post Removing Emissions

Here in Florida there is no longer emmisions testing done. Can I remove the EGR valve and the rest of the emissions components or am I looking for trouble( mechanicaly speaking)I could get a new carb and free up alot of room in the engine bay. This is a 83 5.0 and will soon be twenty years old and will never need to have emissions testing.Any suggestions?
