Engine bay paint
Spring is almost here and I'm ready to do this! Question for prepping and painting my engine bay. My color code is GT3 for the body. Is is nicer if the bay is the same color as the car or a flat black.

I did mine and I had it painted the same color as my car. Have not had my pics. developed so I cant post them.
I am running a carbed car so I don't need all of the stuff bolted to the shock towers. I had all of the holes welded. I then ground down the welds and smoothed them in with filler. Took me quite awhile but it looks darn good! Be sure you pressure wash the crap with the engine out to get all of the gunk off. Then, I wiped the entire compartment down with a wax and grease remover from PPG. I then sanded all of the rust spots down. I then re-wiped the compartment down with the wax/grease remove. This is important as it removes all foreign substance from the surface giving the paint a good surface to adhere to. You simply cannot get things to clean, remember that. Good luck!! ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. My Car |

Thanks for the advice! I figured it would be time consuming so I should start now. Your engine sounds really powerful. What type of #'s are you making? My reason for asking this is because my engine builder and I decided on stroking the 351 to 393, but unfortunately I have to deal with the emissions issue. It really takes away from the fun, and potential power. However, I've been doing a lot of reading on the EEC-IV Computer management system and I'm a Programmer myself so I think I'll be able to pass with 3-way cats.
