I don't know if it's a regional thing, or if it's just my local Autozone(s), but when I go in for parts, they're usually pretty decent. I don't go in for help, but at least they know how to use the computer...

Of course, there was the whole pulley fiasco.

Default Maybe it's Missouri!

Geez, for some odd reason here clerks are pretty decent about assistance. I don't ask them for too much, and if I do have a serious question there is a local NAPA with a mid 50's WOMAN that works there that knows everything. Seriously, not "everything that my wife thinks she knows" kind of knowledge. I think she's worked there her whole life....

Default Autozone terror!!!

I have worked at Autozone and Advance before in highschool and since then part-time.I even meet my current wife while working part-time at Advance(POOR GIRL SHE WAS LIKE SOME OF THE CLUELESS CLERKS MENTIONED IN THIS THREAD)she was a cashier but sometimes they had to help out on the counter(try to). Some of the people these places hire should never even be put behind a parts counter but I learned that same way but I did have mechanical experience when I went to work at Advance my junoir year.I have seen some dumb clerks but I have also waited on some dumb customers.I had a guy come in Advance one day and ask for plugs for a Honda crooks(crx lol) and a guy that cussed me out when I tried to sell him 8 plugs for his 2.3 stang.I could tell tales all night but the biggest reason I even posted here was to tell you how to handle these people. If you have no doubt that you are in the right just ask for the manager and they will (most times unless you get some amit that just got hired because he used to manage mickey d's) get you what you need whether it is a refund ,exchange, etc they tell them the customer is always right .Sometimes you have to get a lil hostile or loud so others in the store can hear but that usually gets you what you want because at that point and time they just want to get you out of the store sp no other customers hear you complaning about there parts etc.Me myself I just go up to the parts counter and ask to use the catalogs ,so if I get the wrong part it is my fault I have seen times when those magical computer have been wrong!

Did you mean "4 plugs for his 2.3"?
